Is there any financial help for me in Houston? I'm unemployed single, but no children...?

It seems every where I go for assistance I'm being turned down. I'm asked to bring proof of residence (my House), proof of expenses which include my car and proof of income. I receive unemployment benefits, but it doesn't cover a months worth of expenses. I've been told twice that I don't have children under the age of 18 in my household and that's why I can't receive help. Does anyone know where I can get some help until I find a job?

1. Why not look for a job? Why are you going for "assistance" which is funded by taxpayers. Become a tax payer and work like the rest of us. Go to Central 214 in Houston, fill out an application to become a server.
